Travis Barker Mourns Loss of Beloved French Bulldog
French Bulldogs are one of the most registered dog breeds in the country, according to the American Kennel Club. Also called a “Frenchie,” what this diminutive pooch lacks in size, he makes up for in personality. He’s playful, intelligent, fun-loving, and irresistibly lovable with his smooshy face and bat-like ears.
Many celebrities have fallen in love with the breed, including Travis Barker, dog dad and drummer for the band Blink-182. Barker recently took to Instagram to share news of the passing of Blue, his French Bulldog.
“I’ll miss you, Blue. You were the best dog. I was always waiting for you to say something,” Barker posted to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, November 4. “I love you 4ever boy.”
Barker shared several images of Blue, including one cradling the dog in his arms and kissing him tenderly on the face.
Equally as distraught, Barker’s 16-year-old daughter, Alabama, shared a loving tribute on her Instagram Stories. She attributed Blue with helping her get through rough times.
“I love you, Blue, you will never understand how much you helped me. On my darkest days, you slept next to me,” Alabama Barker wrote. “The way I would throw your ball, and you would run with excitement or the eyes you had that just touched everybody. I’ll never forget you, my baby.”
Barker decided to commemorate his canine companion with a new portrait tattoo, done by artist famed celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo.
The average lifespan of Frenchies ranges between 10 and 14 years. Looking at photos of Blue, it appears he lived a long, happy life with Barker and his family.
