A superhero is just another name for a best friend, and mega-celebrity Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson agrees. The Rock stars in Warner Brothers’ summer blockbuster movie, DC League of Super-Pets, as Krypto, Superman’s closest canine companion.

It’s no surprise that The Rock has gone viral for being a real-life superhero in partnership with the Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS). Recently, The Rock and movie co-star Kevin Hart asked their Instagram super fans to tell them why they should be a superhero to a dog in need.

“I can’t promise these puppies have superpowers… but I won’t say they don’t,” Hart told his fans while cuddling an adorable BFAS puppy in his arms.

“These beautiful puppies are all available at BestFriends.org for adoption,” The Rock shared.

A Superhero Surprise of a Lifetime

Hundreds of thousands of dog lovers chimed in, hoping to be the recipient of one of the BFAS puppies available for adoption. One of those people, Tiffany Hernandez, told The Rock and Hart it was time to become a superhero and super mom to her kids.

Little did she know The Rock would surprise her family in person at a DC League of Super-Pets movie screening.

With cameras rolling, The Rock disguised himself as his movie character, Krypto, and walked into the movie theatre to surprise attendees. No one knew The Rock was about to deliver big news of the cutest, cuddliest order.

In the now-viral Instagram video, Krypto makes a grand entrance to a theatre full of cheering fans. The big reveal was about to unfold as the attendees burst into applause and tears. Within moments of taking center stage, Krypto revealed his true identity – The Rock.

“I want to welcome all the families here, but there’s one family in particular that I do want to welcome,” The Rock explained. “Where’s the Hernandez family?”

With that, the family made their way to the stage for an unexpected gift. The Rock shared the big announcement with the Hernandez kids as their parents stood by.

In true superhero style, The Rock delivered a puppy named Quail to the family. With tears flowing and smiles beaming, The Rock handed the bundle of joy to the Hernandez kids.

Become A Superhero To A Pet In Need

The Rock, Kevin Hart, and everyone at Best Friends Animal Society encourages people to adopt a dog, cat, or other pet in need.

Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has superhero numbers to prove it. Since 1984, they’ve been able to reduce the number of innocent animals euthanized in shelters from 17 million per year to approximately 355,000.

In addition to running programs all across the United States, Best Friends is home to the nation’s largest no-kill animal sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.

On any given day, you’ll find up to 1,600 dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, horses, pigs, and other animals living and healing at the Best Friends animal sanctuary.
