Denver has long been known as an outdoorsy city, and who better to bring with you outdoors than your favorite four-legged friend? Let’s take a look at the best Denver dog parks.

Elk Meadow Park

As the name implies, wild Elk are common in this park. Overall, the park itself is nearly 1,500 acres and wide open. There are two fenced-in areas as well, for off-leash play.

This park is a bit out of town, but the beauty and amount of open space more than makes up for it. Additionally, there is no entrance fee and there are almost 15 miles of trails!

Stapleton Dog Park

This three-acre park is a little different as the whole area is sand! It’s like going to the beach without the ocean and sure to be a fun time for your pup. There are plenty of water fountains for both humans and dogs and the park is free to enter.

The convenient location means this park is always buzzing, so there will be plenty of other friends for your dog. As Denver dog parks go, this unique park has a lot to love!

Westminster Hills Dog Park

This dog park, located in the northwest part of the city, is partially fenced and includes a total of 420 acres. There is a dog drinking fountain as well as a swimming pond for your pup. For the humans, there is plenty of shade and benches to relax.

The site is open from sunrise to sunset seven days a week. Like many off-leash parks, be sure you know all of the rules and regulations before entering.

Lowry Dog Park

This well-rated dog park offers off-leash play and is located near Lowry Air Force Base. There is plenty of space with some small hills for your dog to explore.

As this is a City of Denver park, all of the rules and regulations of the park apply such as:

  • Unlighted dog parks are open from sunrise to sundown, 7 days a week
  • Lighted dog parks are open from 5am-11pm, 7 days a week
  • Dogs must be spayed or neutered, or have a current Denver Intact Permit (Denver residents)
  • Dogs must have current rabies and Denver dog license.

Kennedy Dog Park

This park is located in East Denver and offers three acres of off-leash space. The area is mostly dirt and now completely closed in thanks to a recent renovation.

Finally, the park has two areas: a full energy one and a low energy area. This is a great, unique feature to be able to match your dog’s energy with the right space.
