Is Las Vegas Dog Friendly?

The City of Sin is designed to attract all types of tourists, and while it’s a fantastic place to people-watch, it’s a tossup as a destination for four-legged sightseers. The Strip is only open to dogs from 5 a.m. to noon and dogs are required to be on a 3-foot leash. Most attractions are indoors and while policies vary, many hotels and casinos don’t welcome pets unless they’re simply passing through.

However, if you do a little homework before you set out with a crate and your canine, there are outdoor, dog-friendly haunts spread throughout the city. Close to the Mob Museum off Fremont Street is the Triple George Grill, which offers a traditional steakhouse vibe with dog-friendly dining at sidewalk seating. Or head to the trendy Fremont East neighborhood and drink cocktails from mason jars at Park on Fremont, a quirky bar and restaurant with an equally eclectic back patio.

Getting out of town into wide open spaces is easy with a rental and a bit trickier by rideshare. Make sure you and your doggy crew always have roundtrip transportation arranged before setting off to hike in the many local state parks, like Valley of Fire, an hour outside of the city. Charles Frias Park is a 32-acre space with various dog parks just off Decatur near the Excalibur Hotel. More like Cosmopawlitan! We love this chic dog-friendly hotel in Las Vegas on the Strip for loads of reasons, starting with their two dog runs that are adjacent to the property’s glam Chelsea Pool. Even though pets are not allowed in restaurants or in gaming areas, the Cosmopolitan offers an exclusive daycare rate at the nearby Luxe Pet Hotels, which includes shaded cabanas and splash pools for pups—after all, it’s Vegas, baby! It’s a great excuse to spoil them for a day while pet parents spoil themselves.

Sporting one of the lower nightly rates around, the Cosmopolitan charges $50 per pet per night, plus tax, and welcomes any breed or size for up to two dogs—as long as vaccinations are up to date and documentation is provided. All rooms and suites are considered dog-friendly, so pet parents won’t find themselves relegated to a room in the middle of nowhere. Even better, all doggos go home with a PupJoy Box. Although it’s not heavily advertised on their website, the Four Seasons is perhaps the most pet-friendly hotel in Las Vegas for lap-sized companions—and we mean dogs and cats. Located toward the quiet southern end of the Strip, this non-gaming, non-smoking luxury property allows two pets up to 25 lbs. each for $75 per pet, per night.

As one would expect of this five-star hotel chain, a plush bed and special bowls are provided upon check-in and onsite pet-sitting services are available. One pet blog even noted that their pampered pooch received its own bottle of water, carrots, homemade dog biscuits, and a pupuccino. Reviews state that despite its pet-friendliness, the hotel’s rooms and suits are spotlessly clean with no mysterious lingering odors one might expect of guests who roll in dirt.
