Red Bud Isle
The first entry on our list offers a ton of variety. On over 13 acres off of Redbud Trail, you can hike, fish, bike, swim and more. Truly a park that can be equally enjoyed by dogs and humans alike.
Additionally, there is a half-mile trail that is well maintained, plenty of shade and a swimming area for your pup!
Auditorium Shores
This newly renovated park boasts several outstanding amenities. There is a large open area for off-leash play, along with three different water access areas.
As part of the renovation, there are also doggy showers on site which makes clean up a breeze.
Emma Long Metropolitan Park
This is one of the largest parks in Austin with over 1,200 acres. Within the larger park, the off-leash area covers an impressive 193 acres. There is also a creek that runs through the park and of course plenty of hiking trails.
Overall, this large and centrally located park is an excellent option for a variety of activities.
Shoal Creek Greenbelt
This park located in the heart of Austin offers picturesque views of both the city and natural landscapes. Of course, there is also a mile of off-leash terrain between 24th and 29th streets.
While this park offers only trails, it is a great alternative to the traditional fenced-in dog park.

Zilker Dog Park
Located at 2100 Barton Springs Road, Zilker Metropolitan Park is considered “Austin’s most loved park.” This 351 acre park is home to a variety of recreational opportunities and special events for the individual or the whole family. Of the 351 acres, 45.65 acres is the Off-Leash Dog Park portion, bounded by Stratford Dr, Barton Springs Rd, and Neff Rd, and is known as the “Great Lawn.”
This dog park is not fenced. Well-behaved dogs can roam and play off-leash but must be under verbal control and within your sight.
