Tips for Hanging Your Dog Christmas Stocking

Now that you’ve got your dog Christmas stockings sorted, it’s time to think about how to display it with decorating and safety in mind.

Make it part of your regular setup. Include your dog in the family traditions by hanging their stocking wherever you normally put everyone else’s, whether that’s on the mantelpiece, stairs, or laid in front of the fire. You don’t need a special dog Christmas stocking holder either, just use the same as you would for any other stockings. All the stockings we reviewed come with a tag for easy hanging.

Don’t stuff your dog’s stocking too early. When it comes to stuffing your dog’s stocking, don’t be tempted to start too early. Your dog will probably be able to smell any treats, and may not be able to resist the urge to investigate what’s smelling so good! Fill your dog’s stocking at the last minute, and don’t leave them unattended.

Be aware of other pets. While not all dogs will be able to reach a stocking that is hung on a mantle or the stairs, cats are crafty critters. If you have a feline friend in your residence, make sure you hang the stocking in a spot where your cat can’t knock it down.

Have a holiday helper. If you’re going to wrap your dog’s presents, make sure someone is on hand to help them get those goodies opened!
